Microsoft Launched Free Office 2010 online

For a few days Free Office Web Apps are also available for home users. How do you think, is it able to threat the positions of the “ordinary” Office’s which have to be purchased and consumes a large amount of space in your hard disk?
So far, it required the presence of commercial computer hard disk for the saving of Office documents . As you can see from 2003 or later. the package Office Microsoft was not so free as now. This was due to a prerequisite to load plug-ins package to Web browser. This ActiveX control is not however distributed for free and appeared on the disk with installation package. But this changed, because many countries were in a group of 150 new members, which cause the Redmond giant to give the Office Web Apps completely free, and already this week package will be available to all across the globe.
  • In the Office Web Apps there are four popular programs which we all probably know:
  • Word Web App
  • Excel Web App
  • Power Point Web App
  • One Note Web App
  • Office Web Apps idea was to ensure the greatest potential for collaboration on documents, regardless of the operating environment and a computer specifications, from which some one gets access through a browser. I would prefer at this point to focus more on what we can not do in the free office productivity suite from Microsoft. List of “inconvenience”  is below:
  • Limitation of components for the four programs
  • There are no many options for extensive editing of documents to use only basic tools
  • Lack of ability to save documents directly to computer’s hard drive
  • The relatively long response time when editing and developing new tools, especially noticeable on the weaker Internet connections
  • Open documents stored locally requires first save them with Windows Live SkyDrive, which unfortunately increases process
  • As we see, a free Office Web Apps has a lot of restrictions in relation to ‘normal’ Office’s. This makes that normal office suite preferable, which we have on the hard disk of our computer. In my openion Office Web Apps is only suitable for simple editing of documents. It is also possible to reach it when we want fast Apply patches and share a file with someone .
Do you have already tried your hand with Office Web Apps ? If so, what are you impressions of working with free Microsoft office suite online?
